granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
King David said this about him:
‘I see that the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad,
and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.
You have shown me the way of life,
and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’
You know it's important when it's said more than once!
King David was dead long before the birth of Jesus, yet he fully understood the gift God would offer to us as our salvation, through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. How?
David was “a man after God’s own heart” (1 Samuel 13). He was obedient and devoted to God; David sought after God’s presence and was blessed in return.
There’s so much more to serving God than reading the Bible and studying His word. It is a conscious choice we continuously have to make: to live out His instructions, to humble ourselves and become malleable to His hand in our lives, to forget our instincts and to focus solely on God. It is only when we put our plans in His hands that we are able to truly succeed. (Psalm 37:5)
When is the last time you were able to just forget all your troubles and trust that God is right beside of you?
